London Business School Sake Night 2025
With celebration of traditional sake brewing to be registered as a UNESCO intangible cultural heritage
18th March 2025
Sake events and lectures at universities and other educational bodies have taken place for a decade or so, spreading recognition for the future possible “sake ambassadors”. London Business School is no exception. Sake became very popular among MBA students, and at this annual event, tickets were sold out immediately after they were released. 100 students from over 40 countries participated in the event. This was their first event after the announcement of traditional sake brewing being registered as a UNESCO intangible cultural heritage. Mr Norio Yamana, vice president of JSS, joined the event and celebrated together for this amazing achievement in the sake industry.
At this event, Ms Asami Tasaka from World Sake Imports and Mr Tetsusaburo Mogi from JFC led the lecture, giving the participants tasting sake from different areas of Japan, explaining the regional characteristics. They also mentioned various categories including Nigori, Sparkling, Ginjo, Daiginjo and Umeshu.
Guests were surprised with the rich history and culture rooted in sake, and enjoyed the difference in flavour of each one.
