This year we gained the full cooperation of the Japanese Sake and Shochu Association, hosting an evening of warm and vibrant hospitality with a variety of sake served to one hundred young elites who will assume leadership in the next generation.

Jointly organised by the British-Japanese parliamentary group and the Embassy of Japan, attendees included members of the Houses of Parliament, government agencies, Japanese corporates and the British public.

Ambassador OKU Memorial Rugby Cup

Thirteen years from the date that the late Ambassador Katsuhiko Oku was tragically killed on his mission in Iraq, friends and family gathered together to honour his memory by playing the game that he loved. The occasion was organised by Mr Reg Clerk, CEO of Rhino Group, who recalls Ambassador Oku as a “truly remarkable man”.

Emperor’s Birthday Celebration

Every December, the Embassy of Japan hosts one of the most anticipated events of the calendar year - the celebration of the Emperor’s Birthday. This event is a chance for Japanese nationals away from home to participate in a meaningful national event from afar, and for those with deep engagement in Japanese culture to show their support. Approximately 400 guests came to celebrate His Imperial Majesty’s 85th year, including Eddie Jones (English Rugby Team Coach), Japanese companies and British parliamentarians.
